A small persimmon Japanese placemat woven from natural hemp in the traditional kaya weave, sized for a single plate, a breakfast setting or a tray of tea.
Made by Ban Inoue in Japan, it uses kaya, the light, open weave traditionally used for Japanese mosquito nets. The warm, earthy persimmon tone brings a gentle glow to the table, and is lovely with white porcelain and timber. It also works well as a runner-style accent under a vase.
