Kokutan Ebony Bracelet - 8mm

Kyoto Asahiya
$49.00
Out of stock

A Japanese kokutan ebony wood bracelet with 8mm beads, handmade in Kyoto and strung on silk elastic cord.

Kyoto is famous for making Buddhist prayer beads (juzu or nenju), and Kyoto Asahiya handmakes these bracelets following that long tradition. Ebony is a dense black-brown hardwood from the genus Diospyros, which also includes persimmons; dense enough to sink in water, it's finely textured and polishes to a very smooth finish, making it valued as an ornamental wood.

Also available with 10mm beads, or as the Ebony 108 Beads Bracelet. Also see the Shitan Rosewood Bracelet.
