A traditional Japanese Bizen ware sake set by Yasushi Nakai, with a sake bottle and two cups presented in a signed wooden gift box. A textured, unglazed wood-fired finish adds a touch of tradition and elegance to any dining experience.
Yasushi Nakai is a contemporary Japanese artisan specialising in Bizen ware. Finding a balance between traditional forms and functional daily objects, Nakai is known for works that centre on the raw, earthy qualities of local clay alongside natural kiln transformation. Bizen ware (Bizen-yaki, 備前焼) is one of Japan's oldest forms of pottery, traditionally from Bizen province in what is now Okayama Prefecture. High-temperature wood firing makes it exceptionally hard, and without glaze the clay takes on earthy, reddish-brown tones and organic markings from the kiln.
