Japanese Bizen ware sake cup

Bizen Ware Sake Cup

Mugenan
$59.00
2 left

A Japanese Bizen ware sake cup, wood-fired and left unglazed to highlight the raw, organic beauty of natural clay. A petite, simple form for enjoying sake, with a tactile finish that feels smooth and comfortable in the hand.

Bizen ware (Bizen-yaki, 備前焼) is one of Japan's oldest forms of pottery, traditionally from Bizen province in what is now Okayama Prefecture. High-temperature wood firing makes it exceptionally hard, and without glaze the clay takes on earthy, reddish-brown tones and organic markings from the kiln. Handmade by the Mugenan studio in Inbe, Bizen City.
