Traditional handmade Japanese candles by Takazawa Candle, made from rice bran wax. Kome-no-megumi means "the blessing of rice", a nod to rice's significance in Japanese culture as the staple food since antiquity.
Takazawa Candle was established in 1892 and is one of the oldest candle makers in Japan, using techniques that haven't changed since the 16th century. These candles burn with a tall, intense flame, brighter than most modern paraffin candles, thanks to a wick of dried reed wrapped around a washi paper cylinder, and give off less soot and smoke due to their plant-based materials.
