A Nippon Kodo Mainichi Byakudan (Everyday Sandalwood) incense gift set, presented in a paulownia wood box with a ceramic incense holder. Made mostly from high-quality Indian sandalwood and herbal medicines, it has a full-bodied fragrance; sandalwood is known for its sweet, rich scent and is believed to bring calm to the mind.

Nippon Kodo's incense tradition began in 1575 and can be traced back to Jyuemon Takai, better known as Koju, the principal provider of rare and exquisite aromas to the Emperor of Japan and his court. Many of the fragrances it still makes today are based on original formulas by Koju, and later by Yujiro Kito, hailed as a genius of fragrance in the Meiji era.

Nippon Kodo's devotion to making fine Japanese Incense follows a long and honoured tradition that started in 1575. This spans over 400 years ago, and can be traced back to Jyuemon Takai, better known as Koju. He was a skilled artisan in the art and the principal provider of precious rare and exquisite aromas to the Emperor of Japan and his court. Many of those pleasing and enduring high-quality Japanese Incense fragrances, which the company continues to produce to this day, are based on the original formulas created by Koju and later by Yujiro Kito.
