Kyoto is famous for making Buddhist prayer beads (juzu or nenju), and Kyoto Asahiya handmakes these bracelets following that long tradition. Hinoki (Japanese cypress) is native to central Japan and grows up to 35m tall; prized for its very high-quality timber, it has been used to build palaces, temples, shrines, traditional noh theatres and baths.
