Product Description
This wooden rice storage box is made from paulownia wood (or kiri) which is a lightweight and known for its ability to repel insects and protect its contents from moisture. Paulownia trees are one of the fastest-growing trees in the world, which can grow 10-20 feet in its first year, and reaching maturity within 10 years – making it a highly sustainable wood.
Constructed from solid wood panels without the use of screws or nails. The lid has a sliding door, to easily add and remove rice, and comes with a small paulownia wood cup for scooping out rice when needed.
Azmaya works in close collaboration with artisans, craftsman, and local small-scale manufacturers within Japan to produce high quality contemporary items that celebrate local materials, traditional Japanese handcrafts, and regional techniques.
