A traditional handmade Japanese candle by Takazawa Candle in the Ikari, or "anchor", shape: a top-heavy design with a wide rim and narrow base that lets the candle create a large flame quickly.
Takazawa Candle was established in 1892 and is one of the oldest candle makers in Japan, using techniques that haven't changed since the 16th century. Made from natural haze wax, it burns with a tall, intense flame, brighter than most modern paraffin candles, thanks to a wick of dried reed wrapped around a washi paper cylinder. Each comes in a soft natural colour such as off-white, muted grey or muted ochre.
Pairs well with our Koma Candle Stand – Large. Also see our Large Tohaku Candle.
