Product Description
Mino ware (Mino yaki in Japanese) is a type of Japanese ceramics with a long history, which is produced within the Tono area of Gifu Prefecture. The Hyozangama kiln has a long tradition of pottery production within Japan. When Yozaemon, the fourth generation of the Hyozangama kiln, presented vessels to Nobunaga Oda, he was praised for his technique; and when presented to Oda Nobunaga he was praised for his technique and given a red seal and the family name of "Hashiba" to authorize the production of pottery.
This small plate is perfect for serving small sides such as pickles. A crackled finish developments during the kiln firing due to the glaze used. As every plate is handcrafted, each is unique and will differ slightly from piece to piece.
