Rust Kairagi Large Bowl

Hyosankama
$55.00
5 left

A large Japanese bowl in a rust kairagi crackle glaze, handcrafted in Japan's Mino ware tradition. Deep and generous, it's perfect for larger rice and noodle dishes.

The rust kairagi glaze develops a crackled finish during kiln firing, so every piece has its own subtle variations in tone and texture. Hyosankama is a Mino ware pottery in Gifu Prefecture, one of Japan's most varied pottery traditions, with over 15 styles designated as traditional crafts.

Looking for something smaller? See the Rust Kairagi Medium Bowl. Pairs well with our Large Rust Kairagi Plate.

Hyosankama

The Hyosankama kiln has a long tradition of pottery production within Japan. When Yozaemon, the fourth generation of the Hyosankama kiln, presented vessels to Nobunaga Oda, he was praised for his technique; and when presented to Oda Nobunaga he was praised for his technique and given a red seal and the family name of "Hashiba" to authorise the production of pottery.
