Product Description
Mino ware (Mino yaki in Japanese) is a type of Japanese ceramics with a long history, which is produced within the Tono area of Gifu Prefecture. Instead of a focus on one single style, it has a variety of distinguishable types of pottery. Specifically there are over 15 types of Mino ware ceramics that are designated as traditional crafts.
The Hyozangama kiln has a long tradition of pottery production within Japan. When Yozaemon, the fourth generation of the Hyozangama kiln, presented vessels to Nobunaga Oda, he was praised for his technique; and when presented to Oda Nobunaga he was praised for his technique and given a red seal and the family name of "Hashiba" to authorize the production of pottery.
This angled bowl is perfect for serving breakfast dishes such as yogurt and porridge, or side dishes. A crackled finish developments during the kiln firing due to the glaze used. As every serving bowl is handcrafted, each is unique and will differ slightly from piece to piece.
