A small Japanese bowl in a simple form, handcrafted in Shigaraki from lightly textured clay with a thin, natural matte glaze. The perfect size for serving side dishes, rice or miso soup.

Made by Marui Seito, a third-generation Shigaraki-yaki potter. Shigaraki, in Koka City, Shiga Prefecture, is one of Japan's six ancient kilns, with a roughly 1,260-year history of ceramic craft, and Shigaraki-yaki was designated a traditional craft of Japan in 1976.

Hechimon

Hechimon is a collection of Japanese ceramics by a third-generation Shigaraki-yaki maker, Marui Seito. This name translates as “strange things” or “unusual things”. The ceramic collection embraces varying expressions from the vessels themselves. Like holding their own personalities due to materials used, kiln firings, and the craftsman hand. All of these processes and relationships slightly shift each piece – no two pieces will be identical in nature.
