Nippon Kodo Morning Star incense in Palo Santo, with a sacred, cleansing scent. Created in Japan in the 1960s, Morning Star is Nippon Kodo's best-selling incense for daily use, loved for more than 50 years for its powerful fragrances made with ingredients such as pure floral essences and aromatic woods. Perfect for meditation, prayer, yoga and mindful daily moments.

With no bamboo core, the sticks burn with a clean, pure scent and little smoke. Nippon Kodo's incense tradition began in 1575 and can be traced back to Jyuemon Takai, better known as Koju, the principal provider of rare and exquisite aromas to the Emperor of Japan and his court.

Nippon Kodo

Nippon Kodo's devotion to making fine Japanese Incense follows a long and honoured tradition that started in 1575. This spans over 400 years ago, and can be traced back to Jyuemon Takai, better known as Koju. He was a skilled artisan in the art and the principal provider of precious rare and exquisite aromas to the Emperor of Japan and his court. Many of those pleasing and enduring high-quality Japanese Incense fragrances, which the company continues to produce to this day, are based on the original formulas created by Koju and later by Yujiro Kito.
