This simple square pot mat is made in Japan with natural cedar wood and passed through a burnishing process called Yakisugi (also known as Shou Sugi Ban).
Yakisugi is a traditional Japanese method of charring the surface of wood. This technique helps the wood become water-proof and more durable – making it ideal as the base for hot pots.
