A long octagonal Japanese Mino ware plate in a brown glaze, finished to complement its exposed clay base. Handcrafted by Jyuzan in Gifu, Japan.
Jyuzan is a ceramic studio with over 130 years of history, making Mino ware (Mino-yaki) entirely by hand from a blend of clays, including local Mino clay and pottery stone from Okayama Prefecture, all mixed, crushed and kneaded in house. Each piece is slow-fired at 1300°C for over 40 hours, and the uneven kiln temperatures intentionally give every piece subtle differences in colour and finish.
