Alice Bag - Grey

Made in Mada

1 left

A simple handwoven raffia tote bag in grey, with plaited handles, for everyday use. Each bag is made by first harvesting the sustainable raffia plant, then hand-dyeing the fibres, and finally weaving the bag, which takes about a day.

Raffia is a straw-like material made from the leaves of the raffia palm, native to Madagascar. The green leaves of individual palm fronds are cut and dried into long, thin strings of fibre. Biodegradable and fast growing, able to be harvested several times a year, raffia is a sustainable fibre.
