Rice straw decorations are handcrafted one by one by Japanese artisans in Japan. A much loved staple of rice is grown, and after these initial processes the rice straw is harvested and twisted by hand to make these decorations. They can be hung on interior doors and walls in places around the home.
This decoration is not only environmentally friendly, but also adds a touch of natural elegance to any space. Experience the beauty of traditional craftsmanship with this unique piece. These designs are intended as prayers for a good harvest and abundant, healthy crops.
Shimenawa (sacred ropes) have been popular in Japan since ancient times. Particularly they have been used in shinto shrines and homes.
As each item is individually hand crafted, each piece will differ slightly from the one photographed. Measurements may differ slightly also.
