Censer ash is used to support Japanese incense sticks. The first step is to loosely fill the vessel with censer ash. Next you can choose to stir the ash with chopsticks in a clockwise direction, fluffing the ash and supporting the movement of oxygen to aid in the burning. Simply place into the ash the sandalwood incense sticks.

The Shigaraki Vessel has been handcrafted in Japan. A thin metallic glaze allows the texture of the clay to be visible.

All items in this gift set come packaged together in a simple kraft brown box.

Sandalwood: 

The Sandalwood Incense is a scent that mixes chypre (oakmoss basenotes and citrus top notes) with traditional sandalwood. Burning this incense brings forth the calm and stillness of Japanese temples and transports you to the heart of ancient Japan.

Yuzu:

A citrus scent based on Japanese yuzu, which exudes a delightful citrus scent with soft floral overtones – being unique to this particular type of citrus fruit. Burning this incense brings forth the calm, clarity, and tranquility of Japanese yuzu fields running alongside riverbanks and mountain scapes. 

Forest: 

A refreshing and woody scent inspired by the stillness and freshness of a Japanese forest. A scent containing sandalwood, juniper, and rosemary.
