The Iwa Incense Holder has been made with a handbuilding process, these ancient technique has been used for many of thousands of years. This approach to making pottery allows it to be created without pottery wheels, using only the makers hands and simple tools. I gravitate towards this way of making as it shows evidence of the human hand – the human being behind the work.

Each incense holder takes time to form by hand, then allowing time to dry for a period of 2-4 weeks before the kiln firing process.

Each piece may differ slightly in size and shape, as they are each hand-built – holding individual uniqueness.

This Japanese hinoki cypress wood incense brings forth the calm and stillness of Japanese forests and transports you to the heart of ancient Japan.

Unglazed stoneware clay.

Measurements: 

Small: approximately 2.5-3.5cm L x 2.5-3cm W x 1.5-2cm T / incense opening: 0.25cm (fits 0.2mm incense sticks).

Medium: approximately 4-4.5cm L x 3-3.5cm W x 1-2cm T / incense opening: 0.3cm (fits 0.2-0.3mm incense sticks)

Kousaido Woboku Hinoki Cypress Incense: 

Made in Japan.
