The Circle Incense Holders and has been made with a handbuilding process, these ancient technique has been used for many of thousands of years. This approach to making pottery allows it to be created without pottery wheels, using only the makers hands and simple tools. I gravitate towards this way of making as it shows evidence of the human hand – the human being behind the work.

Each incense holder takes time to form by hand, then allowing time to dry for a period of 2-4 weeks before the kiln firing process.

Each piece may differ slightly in size and shape, as they are each hand-built – holding individual uniqueness.

Kousaido Japanese Incense Sticks:

Made in Japan.

30 short incense sticks.

Measurements: Paulownia wooden box: 9.7 x 4.8 x 2.2 cm / Incense: 7cm

Burn time: approximately 15-17 minutes per stick.

Sumi Ink: 

A moody and musky scent inspired by the profound feeling of Ryunou (borneol), and centred on the image of calligraphy ink. A scent containing sandalwood, musk, borneol, etc. 

Kotoka: 

A profound and subtly sweet incense inspired by oriental and floral scents in ancient Japan. A scent containing sandalwood, amber, oakmoss, etc.
