A simple soap dish, handcrafted in Japan from Japanese cedar. The cedar is moisture resistant and has a beautiful scent, making it ideal for humid bathrooms.

Japanese cedar, also known as sugi, is a large evergreen tree that grows in the mountains and high-rainfall areas of south and central Japan. It was extremely important in ancient Japanese society, both as a building material and for its spiritual significance. Available in Medium and Large.

Care

  1. Every few weeks, use a small brush (a small tawashi or toothbrush works well) to scrub soap residue and stagnant water from the crevices.
  2. Rinse with lukewarm water and dry with a cloth.
  3. Allow to air dry thoroughly. We recommend alternating between two soap dishes every two weeks, letting one fully dry out, to help prevent mould and mildew and stop the wood from rotting.
