Product Description
Incausa Wii Basket with Perisi Fungi: These traditional storage baskets are handwoven using titica vine and perisi fungi details by the Yanomami.
The Yanomami people are indigenous to the Amazon rainforest between Vanezuela and Brazil. Using small strings of bark, roots, and native titica vines, Yanomami women weave and decorate baskets with natural pigments, which are traditionally used to store and carry plants, crops, and food.
Incausa collaborates with artisans, villages and associations of eight different native ethnicities in the Amazon, developing non-profit trade posts and market placement. Using social entrepreneurship to reignite indigenous heritage, Incausa uplifts cultural values and builds sustainable opportunities.
Indigenous Art Represents to the native people of the Amazon basin an opportunity
to preserve an integral livelihood and an alternative to industries that threaten to undermine these communities. In addition, the work of these artisans represents a connection to their ancestry that spans millenniums, with the power to create dialogue between different cultures and break a cycle of prejudice and discrimination.
