Product Description

Shigaraki is located in Koka City, Shiga Prefecture, and is recognised as playing a significant part in the long history of Japanese ceramics. It is included as one of Japan's six old kilns – being said to have a history of 1260 years. In 1976 Shigaraki-yaki (Shigaraki ware) was designated as a traditional craft in Japan.

Hechimon is a collection of Japanese ceramics by a third-generation Shigaraki-yaki maker, Marui Seito.

A Katakuchi is a small spouted pouring vessel in Japan. Traditionally they are uses for serving sake, although they have many used such as, for preparing tea, and for gravy, sauces and dressings. This Katakuchi has an organic form, allowing the hands to wrap nicely around the body. The unglazed exterior meets the hands with tactility.

Please note as each vessel is handcrafted the finish and size may vary slightly – each piece will be unique.
