Nanohana Candles (set of 40)
Product Description
Takazawa Candle was established in 1892, being one of the oldest candle makers in Japan. Producing traditional handmade candles derived from plant-based raw materials, using techniques that haven't changed since 16th century.
These candles have a tall intense flame, burning brighter than most modern paraffin candles – due to the wicks composition of dried reed wrapped around a washi paper cylinder. They also let off less soot and smoke, due to their plant-based materials.
Nanohana is the Japanese name for rapeseed blossoms, a landmark of Noto Island, where they are handmade from the extracted oil. There is a long tradition in Japan with these delicate yellow flowers – being eaten for thousands of years. During the Edo Period (1600 - 1868) they have been extracting the oil from the seeds.
We recommend pairing with the Koma Candle Stand - Small, sold separately.
